At your yoga retreat in Austria
Originally a deeply spiritual practice, yoga is often reduced in the West to its postures (asanas). Yet it encompasses so much more: through physical and breathing exercises, transformation takes place on a mental and emotional level as well. At the Posthotel Achenkirch, we consciously bring this holistic aspect into focus.
Personal yoga practice
A stay at our yoga hotel in Austria is the perfect opportunity to deepen your own practice - whether you join our weekly programme led by experienced teachers, take part in an intensive retreat, or practise independently in our energy room. Start your day energised with a sunrise flow before breakfast, and nothing helps you unwind like a session of pranayama or meditation. If you prefer, you can also practise outdoors on our garden yoga platform.
Yoga retreats
We regularly host multi-day yoga retreats in Austria. They are designed for both beginners and advanced practitioners - the level of physical and meditative exercises is individually adapted.
Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.
The path of yoga
In his Yoga Sutras, Patanjali describes the eightfold path (Ashtanga Marga) as a guide to spiritual growth. It begins with ethical principles for one’s relationship with oneself and others, then continues with the practice of physical postures (asanas) and breathing exercises (pranayama). From there, the yogi seeks to withdraw the senses from external distractions in order to develop deeper concentration and ultimately master true meditation. Great masters reach Samadhi - the dissolution of the ego, or “enlightenment”.
Yoga and science
Many of yoga’s positive effects are now scientifically proven: stress reduction, improved flexibility, strength and balance, lower blood pressure, better sleep quality, relief from psychological symptoms and chronic back pain, and much more.
