to Lake Achensee
Our recommendation for immersing yourself in the winter landscape
The approximately three-hour walk from the Posthotel to the northern shore of Lake Achensee and back is particularly enchanting during the Christmas season. With only around 100 metres of elevation gain, it is suitable for walkers of all abilities. The route begins at Achenkirch Parish Church and first passes the charming Annakircherl chapel before continuing along the upper road through the Fiechtersiedlung settlement. Follow the signs for “Wanderweg zum See” (lake trail) until you reach the car park of the Christlum ski lifts. Here, the path branches off to the right and climbs gently towards the slightly elevated Hotel Das Kronthaler. From there, the trail descends again to the Schrambacherhof and continues along meadow paths to the northern shore of Lake Achensee. The return journey follows the same route back to the hotel.

This charming Christmas market, set in one of the region’s oldest farmhouses, offers regional handicrafts and Tyrolean specialties in a cozy and festive atmosphere. There is also an exciting program for children. - Country Christmas at the Kräuterhüttl in Achenkirch:
The See Christmas boat service also stops at the Scholastika pier in Achenkirch. From there, visitors can explore the cozy Christmas market at the Kräuterhüttl. During the event days, guests can enjoy a varied Advent program featuring festive music and changing culinary specialties. The program for 2026 has not yet been finalized, but until then, visitors can draw inspiration from last year's program. New program details will be published as soon as they become available. - Tyrolean Mountain Christmas at the Sixenhof Heritage Museum:
Those interested in traditional Achensee customs should visit the Tyrolean Mountain Christmas in Achenkirch. In the centuries-old barn, a journey back in time awaits, featuring life-sized figures as well as oxen, donkeys, and sheep as part of the display. Afterwards, visitors can enjoy Zelten, a traditional Tyrolean fruit bread, served in the museum’s historic smoke kitchen.

In der Adventszeit wird eine Schifffahrt auf dem Achensee zu einem ganz besonderen Wintererlebnis. Während Sie mit der Weihnachtslinie der Achenseeschifffahrt von einem Weihnachtsmarkt zum nächsten schippern, genießen Sie die winterliche Bergkulisse sowie Glühwein, heiße Getränke und hausgemachte Snacks an Bord.
Die Weihnachtslinie ist vom 27. November bis zum 20. Dezember 2026 jeweils von Freitag bis Sonntag unterwegs. Als Zusatztermin gilt der 8. Dezember. Die Schiffe verkehren an diesen Tagen von 10.30 bis 16.10 Uhr. Alle Abfahrtszeiten und Anlegestellen findet ihr im aktuellen FAHRPLAN der Weihnachtslinie.
Die Seeweihnacht der Achenseeschifffahrt bringt euch nicht nur über den winterlichen Achensee, sondern verbindet die Bootsfahrt mit drei besonderen Christkindlmärkten in Pertisau und Achenkirch. Bei den Zwischenstopps bleibt genügend Zeit, die Adventmärkte an Land zu entdecken. (siehe oben)

*Innsbruck
In Tyrol’s capital, Advent shows its many sides: from the traditional Christmas market in the Old Town, directly by the Golden Roof, to the modern market at Marktplatz and the Christmas market on the Hungerburg with views over Innsbruck. The Kaiserweihnacht at Bergisel also offers Advent atmosphere in an exceptional setting.

Between sparkling lights and the romantic winter setting of the fortress, Kufstein invites visitors to enjoy several Advent experiences. The cosy Christmas market in the city park and the Christmas magic at the historic fortress give the town its very own charm at this time of year.
*Hall in Tirol
Set against the backdrop of the medieval old town, the Advent market on the Upper Town Square has a special charm. Lovingly decorated stalls, warm lights and a varied programme make Hall a wonderful destination during the pre-Christmas season.
