Tradition & innovation at the Posthotel Achenkirch
From the “Poststation” to the luxurious resort for adults
For more than 100 years, sophisticated hospitality has been a tradition at our hotel in Tyrol.
Way back in 1918, the Reiter family took over the post office with its attached tavern. Three generations later, in 1975, the flourishing “Gasthof zur Post” became the “Hotel Post”, and seven years later, in 1982, the “Posthotel Achenkirch”.
Top wellness and health spa in Europe
All the superlatives apply to the Posthotel Achenkirch – beautiful and sets a high benchmark for any spa and wellness hotel. I can’t wait to return!
The origin of wellness in Tyrol
A new name, new buildings, and a ground-breaking concept: the innovative hoteliers Karl and Karin Reiter were one of the first in Tyrol to introduce the notion of wellness. The result is a stylish spa area with treatments and a beauty farm: a true place of strength for the body and mind. Further highlights for discerning guests looking for something special have been the hotel’s own farm since 1984 and the Lipizzaner stud farm since 1985. Since 2004, their son Karl C. Reiter and his family have managed the hotel with prudence, a sense of tradition, and foresight.
Half a millennium of hospitality
But that’s not all: We look back on more than 500 years of tradition at the Posthotel Achenkirch. That’s because Emperor Maximilian I used to hunt and fish on Lake Achensee over 500 years ago. He also laid the groundwork for the legendary Achensee fleet. In his honour, the Kaiser-Maximilian-Rast viewing platform was built on the hiking trail to the Köglalm hut.
A stop at our hotel was considered a royal pleasure, which you still can enjoy today as a guest at our adults-only spa hotel: fresh, stylish, and welcoming.
