A passion for horses from the very beginning
The Posthotel director, Karl Reiter, realised a long-time riding tradition and passion with the establishment of the Posthotel stud. In 1975 he (a non-rider!) acquired his first horses. In 1985 the first stallion arrived at the Posthotel Achenkirch from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. More Lipizzaners came from Vienna, from the Austrian national stud in Piber and from Hungarian breeders. The stud farm at the Posthotel Achenkirch with its 9 Imperial greys is today famed as a part of Europe’s largest private Lipizzaner stud!
Riding holidays for adults
Horses radiate a special peace and strength that has a relaxing effect on humans. Horseback riding at the Achensee, surrounded by the Karwendel mountains and in the midst of unspoilt nature, you can particularly savour this sense of well-being. The Posthotel Achenkirch has attractive offers for riding holidays in Tirol for both beginners and the more advanced.
Your riding holiday in Austria will teach you galloping, not pirouettes
Perfect for you: our Lipizzaners are riding mounts, not show horses. Learn about what is probably the oldest race of horses in the world with riding instruction at the Posthotel Achenkirch in Tirol, riding in the wonderful landscape of the Tirolean mountains or on a carriage trip through the Achen Valley. The Posthotel Achenkirch makes each rider’s dreams come true on the back of a Lipizzaner!
By the way, did you know that Lipizzaner foals are born black?
