Early foresight: wellness and beauty

The Reiter family took over the old coaching inn and bar/restaurant in 1918. Three generations later in 1975 the "Gasthof zur Post" became the "Hotel Post", before becoming the "Posthotel Achenkirch" seven years later.

A new name, new buildings – and a pioneering concept: the innovative hoteliers Karl and Karin Reiter were the first people in Tyrol to embrace the new concept of "wellness". The baths and thermal landscape, spa department and beauty farm come into being. Additional features that help to set the hotel apart were introduced: the hotel farm in 1984 und the Lipizzaner stud farm in 1989.

Since 2002, the family's son Karl Christian Reiter has been continuing the Posthotel's hospitality with great commitment and conviction. New residential and shopping areas have increased the size of the Posthotel – and its excellent reputation as the top wellness hotel in the Tyrolean Alps. The increased range of sports and fitness activities make it an exclusive spot for exercise: the Alpengolf Golf Club opened in 2004 and the Zöhrerhaus meditation centre opened in 2006.

In keeping with its wellness tradition, the sauna and bathing landscape at the Posthotel Achenkirch continues to grow. Since 2007 the largest spa oasis in Tyrol has been home to a spectacular wellness site, the Asian-inspired Sunken Temple.
